PROFILE
“The creative process is not performed by skilled hand alone but must be a unified process in which
‘head, heart, and hand play a simultaneous role. (Herbet Bayer)"
Ida Ankrah is an experienced multidisciplinary designer who holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Minnesota in Graphic Design. Her work is based on Cross Cultural design: Integration of African and Western Visual Vocabulary.
A visual integration of two symbols (adinkra symbols from Ghana, West Africa and the Alphabets) from different cultures with meaning and cross cultural identity. Her personal style comes from the influence of her Ghanaian and Western cultural experiences. She believes that it is necessary for a designer to have a personal style in order to express her/ his personal
point of view. Producing a work of art can provide different meaning and feelings in our daily lives. This meaning and feeling
is what she wants the viewer to experience in her work. She wants her work to be observed through matters such as invention,
metaphor and memory. "Art is not what you see, but what you make others see." Edgar Degas.
